‘Chasing the Wind’ is an historical novel by Hilary McKenzie Joyce based imaginatively on the life of the twelfth century John, Abbot of Forde in West Dorset. It features the countryside of the area in addition to travels in medieval France and Italy. The politics of the age are a lively backdrop to this account of a man’s struggle to follow the monastic life and serve his God. Apart from being a prolific writer and translator of the Song of Songs, John of Forde was confessor to King John for three years.
The novel is published by Zygal Publishers which is based at Becklands Farm.
