Becklands Farm is within easy and level walking distance of the sea (Charmouth 2.5 miles. Bridport (flea market on Saturdays) is 7 miles and Lyme Regis (quaint shops and teas) 5 miles. A couple of miles away you can walk over the site of an Iron Age fort at Lambert’s Castle. or Coney's Castle at bluebell time.

Other places to visit in less than an hour’s drive include Exeter Cathedral, Forde Abbey, Chesil Beach, Abbotsbury Swannery and Dinosaur Land.  The area is rich in gardens to visit.

There are art and craft galleries and shops within a short drive.

There are many country and seaside pubs and cafes nearby. The Riverside, a nationally acclaimed seafood restaurant, some six miles away in West Bay needs to be booked ahead during the summer (tel: 01308 422011). Hix owned by the Ivy chef, Mark Hix is in Lyme Regis and River Cottage HQ  is in Axminster.
